莲花生大士

印度高僧—藏传佛教的主要奠基者


莲花生大士，藏传佛教的主要奠基者。公元八世纪，入藏弘法，创立了西藏第一座寺院。他从印度迎请无垢友等大德入藏，将重要显密经论译成藏文，创建显密经院及密宗道场，开创了在家出家的两种圣者应供轨范，如是等等，奠定了西藏佛教的基础。藏传佛教教徒尊称他为咕汝仁波切（意为大宝上师）、邬金仁波切（乌仗那宝），宁玛派（含义即旧教）的祖师。通称贝玛迥乃（莲花生）。据多罗那他于1610年所著《莲花生传》所载，约于摩揭陀国天护王时出生于邬金国王族。圣诞日：藏历六月初十。

莲花生大士（梵文 Padmasambhava）或莲花生，印度佛教史上最伟大的大成就者之一。印度乌仗那国人，建立藏传佛教前弘期传承的重要人物，藏传佛教宁玛派祖师。
佛经授记
密宗续部里介绍莲师生平的非常多，莲花生大士并非只是藏传佛教承认，其实显宗经典中也有明确授记。
《诸佛未来授记经》中也说：“我已灭度后，一百十二年，较我甚殊胜，名为莲花生。”
还有《无垢称天女经》中也说：“十方三世一切佛，事业归为一体相，殊胜稀有之佛子，生于邬金西北隅。”
《秘密不可思议经》中也说：“贤劫三世佛，奇妙幻化身，稀有莲蕊中，现为持明者。”


相关传说
从前，在印度有一个名叫乌金的小国，有位富有而慈悲的国王名叫印第菩提，他为了子民的福祉，不但将自己的财富，甚至自己的双目都慷慨地布施。当他的独子不幸去世后，他感到十分悲痛。而祸不单行，国家又遭逢连年旱灾和饥荒，其时国库空虚，人民只有吃那些未成熟的稻析花卉为生。国王除了倾囊布施外，只能向神圣的佛陀祷告。
佛心化现，莲花降生
观音菩萨在极乐世界看见此种情景，便恳请阿弥陀佛救度此等众生。阿弥陀佛的舌头立时射出一道红光，射往丹那湖中的一颗莲花，莲花立时绽开，从弥陀心中再射出一支直立金刚杵，内有一个施(HRI)字，立于莲花上，在彩虹光芒中化为一个八岁小童端坐于莲花上，四周绕着空行母。如是，由最具慈悲的佛心所化生之莲花生大士，便降临这世间救度众生。印度菩提国王当时非常颓丧，于绝望的边缘他决定冒险前往深海，向海龙王祈求一颗愿望宝石，几经艰苦，他终于成功地到达龙宫，海龙王送了他很多宝石，阿述他女神更赠他一颗夺目的“愿望宝石”。
国王小心翼翼地端着这吉祥宝石，用布包起来，放进怀里。归途中，他许了一个善愿，一刹那间，他瞎了的左眼便重见光明。当国王经过丹那湖的时候，看见一道五色彩虹高悬天际，更见一巨莲上端坐着一个散发金光的小孩。他还以为自己在造梦，便问那小孩究竟是何人，来自何处。
小孩答道：“我无父无母，是阿弥陀佛和观音菩萨的化身。我的使命是来普渡众生、弘扬金刚乘教义的。”国王听后，视力完全恢复，他很高兴地封他为“太子”及王位继承人，取名为莲花生。此后，乌金国风调雨顺，国泰民安。
施计出离，尸林修行
莲花生长大后，印第菩提国王为他迎娶漂亮的善普那公主为妻，并封他为国王，称为贝玛嘉波(Padma Gyalpo)，更把那颗愿望宝石送了给他，并对他说：“它可实现你任何愿望。”但王子拒绝说：“我所见到的都是愿望宝石。”于是他请父王张开手，随即出现另一颗“愿望宝石”。
莲花生大士拥有世间的权力和物质受用，但他了解世间的虚妄和烦恼，更欲放弃王位离众，便对父王说：“世间生命短暂，轮回不息，生离死别是不可避免的，我等应精进修行，以求解脱。”不久，莲花生大士被指控杀死一位大臣的妻子及其儿子而负罪，被判流放他乡，从而不得不离开皇宫，开始过着瑜珈士的生活。
莲花生大士在印度八个著名墓地专心一意的修行。其中在菩提伽耶附近的檀香木坟场，大士以尸体为座，进入甚深三摩地。修行五年当中，空行母常来为他灌顶及说法，大士以祭品为食，裹尸布为衣，在每处墓地他都跟随忿怒本尊和大成就者修法，同时，更超越空间到各处寻求深奥的教义。经过不断精进修持，他终于克服了所有逆境，而得诸成就，取名为忿怒金刚。
在彭马华苑的地方，大士学会了无数治病的方法，在瓦高拿的地方，大士遇到了一位白发长者，并随他学习语言和文字。大士跟他学会了梵文、天文的圣语，以及其它三百六十种语言和六十四种文字。后来他又学会雕刻艺术和各种工艺，又为艺术界的精工者。




史书记载
据多罗那他于1610年所著《莲花生传》所载，约于摩揭陀国天护王时出生于乌仗那王族。初名莲花光明，后通晓声明及各种明处，得名莲花金刚。旋又依真言阿阇黎寂色学事、行、瑜伽三部密法，得密号为莲花生。他从吉祥师子学法以后，曾到中国的五台山学习天文历数。
吐蕃赤松德赞即位后，由寂护举荐入藏传法。他入藏的时间，近代学者多方考证，结论不一。据智慧海王所述年月推算，他于750年由印度启行至尼泊尔，752年至拉萨，秋季开始建桑耶寺，754年建成。这样一来，莲花生进藏便在赤松德赞摄政之前，不但不符合赤松德赞邀请莲花生进藏的说法，也和前面所说的莲花生初次到达中印度是在达摩波罗王执政时期的说法相悖，似乎给人以莲花生先进藏传法，然后才去中印度摩揭陀的错觉。学术界一致认为，赤松德赞在位时间为755——797年，由此证明莲花生并非751年进藏、752年与藏王相见，藏史中多次提到，迎请莲花生的主要目的是调伏大力非人鬼神而修建寺庙，桑耶寺是仿照印度的超岩寺修建的，超岩寺建于达摩波罗王时期，时间最起码在766年以后，既然莲花生选定了桑耶寺的寺址，正式奠基年代不可能早于766年。


莲师八变
莲花生大士为了普度众生，具有八种变相，此又称莲师八变。 [1]
（一）海生金刚（Guru Orgyen Dorje Chang）：最初，阿弥陀佛心间的“舍”字，投射到邬金达那够夏大海的莲花上，莲蕊中诞生了一位八岁童子。邬金国王恩札布德膝下无子，因其乐善好施，不时供养三宝，故国库空虚，于是到大海里取宝。在回程途中，大臣紫那木扎首先见到莲师，接着国王也见到了，对其生起极大信心，迎请到宫中作为太子，赐名“海生金刚”。
（二）忿怒金刚（Guru Dorje Drolo）：莲师降伏了奸臣之子，国王将其流放到尸陀林。他在不同的尸陀林中，为有缘的人与非人宣说了种种殊胜法门；对无缘、且对佛法有邪知邪见的鬼神，以忿怒金刚的形象全部降伏。
（三）释迦狮子（Guru Shakya Sengeyi）：在印度金刚座，莲师示现种种神通，说自己是自生之佛陀。很多人不信，并加以诽谤。为把这些众生引入解脱道，他在扎巴哈日上师座下示现出家，此时被称为释迦狮子。
（四）爱慧莲师（Guru Loden Chokse）：莲师于西日桑哈、桑吉桑瓦（佛密）等诸多上师面前，得受了以大圆满为主的众多显密教授。他听闻任何一部经典和续部，都能了如指掌、通达无碍，故叫做罗丹确哲，汉译为“爱慧”。
（五）班玛托创匝（Guru Padmasambhava）：莲师在萨霍国示现种种神变，国王不承认他的成就相，命人堆积木柴焚烧他。结果烈火变成了湖，木柴变成了莲花，莲师端坐在莲花上，颈上挂着骨鬘以作庄严，没有受到丝毫损伤，此时叫班玛托创匝。托创匝即颅鬘妙力之义，指莲师用骷髅鬘装饰身体。
（六）莲花王（Guru Pema Gyalpo）：萨霍国王和大臣们对莲师生起极大信心，请他担任国师十三年，并从国库里取出珍贵的衣饰、莲花帽等作供养。莲师戴着莲花帽，这时叫班玛加波，即莲花王。
（七）日光莲师（Guru Nyima Oser）：在格拉佐尸陀林，莲师示现种种禁行，给空行母们传授密续法门。并降伏了一些鬼神，对其宣说诸多妙法，在日光上显示各种神变，故叫革日宁玛沃热，即日光莲师。
（八）狮吼莲师（Guru Senge Dradog）：在印度金刚座，莲师于辩论中击败了五百邪见外道，并依靠咒术的威力降伏了他们，使外道们屈服并皈入佛门，此时叫革日桑给扎周，即狮吼莲师。

佛教中的地位
莲花生大士，为印度佛教史上最伟大的大成就者之一，与寂护大师同于那烂陀寺学习，以神通闻名。应藏王赤松德赞邀请，前往西藏弘法，并调伏使藏民得以改宗正统佛教。他是藏传佛教得以建立的大功臣之一。西藏的桑耶寺建成也与他有关。莲花生大士在藏传佛教中有着极为崇高的信仰，宁玛派尊奉莲花生大士为邬金第二佛。所传授的咒语与伏藏相传都是由他所教授。莲花生大士为三世诸佛的总集化现，他即生成就了不灭虹化身，亲身示现不生不灭之真谛。
