Notification issued 1/5/17 at 4:20 PM. The New York City Department of Transportation, in conjunction with the Department of Sanitation, today announced that Alternate Side Parking Regulations will be suspended Friday, January 6, 2017 to facilitate snow removal. Notification issued 11/23/16 at 3:00 PM. On Thursday, 11/24, there will be various road closures in midtown Manhattan due to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The parade will begin at 9:00 AM and proceed on the following route:

• Start – Central Park West and West 77th Street
• South down Central Park West to Columbus Circle
• South through the east side of Columbus Circle to West 59th Street
• East on West 59th Street to 6th Avenue
• South on 6th Avenue to West 34th Street
• End - West on West 34th Street to 7th Avenue



Notification issued 11/22/16 at 6:45 PM. Due to balloon inflation for the 2016 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the following road closures will be in effect tomorrow, 11/23:

Beginning at 9:30 AM:
• West 81st Street and West 77th Street from Central Park West to Columbus Avenue

Beginning at 1:00 PM:
• West 79th Street between Columbus Avenue and Amsterdam Avenue

Beginning at 3:00 PM:
• West 81st Street to West 77th Street between Columbus Avenue and Amsterdam Avenue
• West 76th Street between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West

Beginning at 10:00 PM:
• West 81st Street and West 77th Street from Central Park West to Columbus Avenue
• Central Park West from West 59th Street to West 86th Street

The balloon inflation event can be viewed by pedestrians from 3:00 PM until 10:00 PM on West 81st Street and West 77th Street from Central Park West to Columbus Avenue. Pedestrians can enter the viewing near the intersection of Columbus Avenue and West 79th Street.

The advisory has been issued for sustained winds of 20 mph to 30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph. During periods of high winds, residents should use caution when walking or driving high profile vehicles. Winds at these speeds can cause flying debris, turn unsecured objects into projectiles, and cause power outages. To prepare, charge cell phone batteries, gather supplies, and turn refrigerators and freezers to a colder setting. Always stay clear of downed power lines. If you are affected by an outage, turn off all appliances and keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed to prevent food spoilage. Do not use generators indoors. If you lose power and have a disability or access needs, or use Life Sustaining Equipment (LSE) and need immediate assistance, please dial 9-1-1. Notification issued 9/21/16 at 7:08 PM. Due to NYPD activity, there are extensive delays due to temporary lane closures of the Major Deegan Expressway, 3rd Avenue Bridge, Willis Avenue and RFK Bridge. Consider alternate routes and allow additional travel time.

Notification issued 9/19/16 at 2:00 AM. Below is a traffic and transit update regarding the explosion that occurred in Chelsea on Saturday night:

-1 Train service has resumed making normal stops at 23rd Street and 28th Street in Manhattan
-E and F Trains have resumed making normal stops at 23rd Street in Manhattan
-Northbound traffic on 6th Avenue has reopened at 14th Street
-Southbound traffic on 7th Avenue has reopened at 34th Street
-All crosstown traffic (eastbound and westbound) has reopened from West 14th Street to West 23rd Street between 5th Avenue and 8th Avenue
-West 23rd Street remains closed between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue

Notification issued 9/18/16 at 6:45 PM. In support of the explosion in Chelsea, NYC will open a Resident Service Center which will be located inside of the NYC Emergency Management vehicle located on the northeast corner of West 23rd Street and 7th Avenue in Manhattan. Assistance will be available until 9 PM today, 9/18, and again from 8 AM to 9 PM tomorrow, 9/19, and Tuesday, 9/20, for those affected.

Notification issued 9/18/16 at 8:50 PM. Following the transit disruption as a result of the Chelsea explosion, 1 Train service has resumed making normal stops at 23rd Street and 28th Street in Manhattan. Customers should utilize the entrance at the southeast corner of 23rd Street and 7th Avenue as the entrance on the northeast corner remains closed.
All other previously reported road closures and transit disruptions remain in effect.

Notification issued 9/18/16 at 7:50 PM. Due to the United Nations General Assembly, expect significant traffic delays throughout Manhattan from September 19 - September 23. Anticipate traffic disruptions, various street closures, and an increased presence of emergency personnel. Use of public transportation is highly encouraged during this period.

!!!Notification issued 9/18/16 at 3:40 AM. Due to the earlier explosion in Chelsea, crosstown traffic eastbound and westbound is closed from West 14th Street to West 32nd Street, from 5th Avenue to 8th Avenue in Manhattan. These closures are in effect until further notice.


!!!Notification issued 9/17/16 at 11:10 PM. Due to an explosion at West 23rd Street between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue, the following subway lines are impacted:

The F Line is suspended between Delancey Street (MN) and 21st Street/Queensbridge (QN).

Selected E service will operate via the R Line to Whitehall Street to be turned back north.

The 1 Line is suspended between South Ferry and 34th Street in both directions.

The 2 Line is suspended between 34th Street and Chambers Street (MN) in both directions.

Selected southbound 1 and 2 service will be turned at 34th Street.

The following street closures to vehicular and pedestrian traffic are in effect:

Northbound traffic on 6th Avenue at 14th Street, southbound traffic on 7th Avenue at 34th Street, and 23rd Street is closed in both directions between 5th Avenue and 7th Avenue.

There are no impacts to Penn Station, Amtrak, LIRR or NJT service.

Please avoid the area.
